John Hood is a well-known name and face around Murfreesboro. Born and raised in Rutherford County, John attended public schools in Murfreesboro and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a BS in Social Science. He also received a Master’s Degree in Education with a Major in Administration and Supervision. In the professional world, John served 20 years as Vice President for Marketing for SunTrust Bank in Rutherford County retiring in 1996.
John has also delved into politics serving six terms as State Representative for the 48th District in Rutherford County. His community involvement is vast serving as treasurer/board member with the Rutherford County Emergency Communications District (E-911) and having served as a board member of United Way of Rutherford and Cannon counties.
John has been a Past President for the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce and a Diplomat for the Chamber since 1996. He's also a charter member of the Exchange Club of Murfreesboro serving as National President of Exchange Clubs of America in 1980-81. John also devotes time to his college alma mater having served as President of MTSU Alumni Association.
