The City Closed Championships will be using the USTA platform again. This will allow us to utilize their virtual tournament desk which we felt was very efficient. The tournament will NOT be a sanctioned event. You do NOT have to have a paid membership with USTA, but you do have to have an account (this is free if you do not have a USTA membership). The staff at ATC would be glad to help you get this set up and get registered.
Draws will be posted online on Thursday, September 23
Note: Please make the tournament director aware of any scheduling conflicts you may have on any of the tournament dates listed. You must email John Kreis before the tournament entry deadline with your request. While no guarantee is implied, reasonable conflicts will be accommodated if possible, as long as we know when you register!
Eligibility: Current or former residents of Rutherford County or current members of the ATC. Anyone who participates in Murfreesboro leagues including USTA, JTT, etc. are eligible. Players who are currently members of a NCAA D1 tennis team are not eligible.
Balls & Awards: A new can of balls will be provided for each match. Please return the balls to the tournament desk when you report your scores. Orange balls will be provided for 10U. Green balls will be provided for 12U. Winners in all divisions will receive an award. All participants receive a commemorative towel.
Format: All matches (except 10U) will be 2 sets with regular scoring. (A 7-point game tiebreak shall be played at 6 games all in either set.) If sets split, a 10-point set tiebreak will be played in lieu of a traditional 3rd set. 10U will be 2 sets first to 4 games each set. If sets split, a set tie break of first to 7 pts, win by 2, will be in lieu of a 3rd set.
USTA rules and forfeit times will be in use.
Junior players may enter in adult events but only in the “Open” division
10 & Under will only play on September 25
Matches scheduled during the week will be in the late afternoon and evening
You may enter 1 singles, 1 gender specific doubles, and 1 mixed doubles.
