Residential Permit Information, Applications and Forms
Residential permits are required for alterations, renovations, additions and new construction of single family dwellings, zero lot lines and duplexes. Additionally, permits are required for fences, above ground and in ground pools and accessory structures.
Duplexes and zero lot lines require two copies of the floor plans and details of the fire separation assembly between units. The plans should be submitted along with a Plan Review Application to Building and Codes
For construction related to Single Family Dwellings, a permit application may be completed and delivered to the Planning Department or submitted by email to Planning@murfreesborotn.gov. It is possible that during the application review process, we may need to contact you so be sure to provide accurate contact information on the permit application.
Homeowners may obtain permits for their primary residence, however, if the property is intended for rental use, a Tennessee Licensed Contractor will be required to obtain the permit. We may ask for proof of residence prior to issuing the owner a permit.
